"The ego, the soul and the self" according Jung

Ego

The ego is the seat of consciousness: he makes you feel separated from the mother and the rest of the world and be an entity that can in turn affect the world.

The adult ego develops capabilities to meet diverse needs, physiological, security or social inclusion.

The young child is weak, vulnerable and dependent on his parents and his environment. At this stage, his ego is not yet formed. Thereafter, it begins to replace the parents and acquired protective functions. His second task will be to link the individual to the surrounding world, teaching him how to survive and to integrate socially and succeed in life. Some events will strengthen the ego.

our ego or our ego is the conscious part of ourselves that is different from the ocean potential of the collective unconscious. To assert it will break in some way with the environment from which it originated. The ego is a tool, the image of ourselves, our persona, a mask. However, once fully developed, it must be emptied of its contents to become the envelope that hosts and carries the soul (the actor), although the encounter between these two dimensions may be experienced as a tragedy. This implies a well developed ego and properly trained, aware of its limitations and its qualities, such as the Hero acquires during the preparation of his journey: the optimism of the innocent, caring for orphans, Warrior's courage, the generosity of benefactor.

This well-integrated personality itself and its environment, then feel the call of the soul, a force that will lead to the search of his destiny. Only at this point that may begin crossing.

Soul

The soul, to perform safely, needs the cooperation and the presence of the ego that makes sense and down to earth.

Say Don Quixote will be accompanied by Sancho Panza to go on a quest for treasure and mysteries of life.

For Jung, the soul often symbolizes our psyche or the point through which express the archetypes of the collective unconscious. It is part of our psyche that connects us with what is eternal and gives the feeling of meaning and value to our lives.

We begin to take care of the soul when we feel the need to understand the meaning of life, the meaning of our lives, we seek to connect us to the cosmos.

It makes possible a sense of unity. Unfortunately, in our societies where it does not, she is forced to express themselves through cracks or faults of life, in times of trouble or suffering, or when we cross the great crises of life: transitions between childhood and adolescence, between adolescence and adulthood, when entering into maturity and into old age, finally face death.

In these liminal moments, so crossing, where there is neither certainty, no security, then the soul manages to express themselves, sometimes in pain or through negative attitudes and self-destructive .

Many traditional societies have developed myths and rituals, including initiation, to help those driven from the soul. The purpose of initiation is essentially to understand the language of the soul by the experience, what is meant by life experiences.

Crossing the Hero is an introduction to the realities of the journey of the soul. She asks us to control our lives then we remove, abandon the fear of emptiness, death, and be prepared to experience the totality of life. For this, we must broaden the narrow field of view of ego, feelings of detach us from the quest but sooner or later we must reach the central mysteries of life and learn of the death, passion, birth the creation, as mysteries.

Without the soul, we are like robots: we make all possible moves, but they lack direction. The introduction gives us the opportunity to experience the meaning of life and through her quest to learn the passing of Researcher, detachment of the Destroyer, the Lover's commitment and, finally, the union with our own soul that allows the birth of a new self, the Creator.

The Self

The Self is the expression of integrity, the end point of the process of individuation .

The crossing is completed, the treasure found, and we're back in the kingdom that will change according to a new ordering principle.

The essence of self is the paradox, because it allows us to experience what is singular and unique in ourselves and, simultaneously, put our egos in connection with the transpersonal dimension. At his level, life is no longer perceived as a struggle but as a source of abundance. We become kings and queens of our own areas and if we are faithful to our inner being (the Self), we flourish the parched earth. The self is so deeply wounded if the ego and soul are disconnected. Its realization requires to fully assume our responsibilities and integrate them into our consciousness.

If the awakening of the ego raises the individual to the universal, the multiple of the unit, return to the Self help reintegrate the individual to the universal, the multiple to the One. By the force of restitution and the link created by man with God and all creation, being rebuilt in its lost unity.

Any big government needs a magician to predict the future, to heal the sick, to create rituals that connect people to the cosmos and maintain continuous liaison with the spiritual dimension of life . It may also have along a sage who gives impartial advice and the fate of its subjectivity. And also a jester, able to delight the castle and tell the government terrible truths. The Government Mage, Sage, and Jester help each other and contribute through their talents to produce a salutary kingdom, prosperous and happy. They symbolize the four aspects of self built.

Shadow

We all know carry a shadow, a sort of character whose silhouette consists of all that we repress and which do not fit the look we want social give us .

This shadow is the dragon that feeds in the mature and well in every respect, all that his ego refuses to integrate consciously.
is the first appearance of each archetype to recognize if we are to advance the process of individuation.

The difficulty lies in the fact that the shadow is usually repulsive, but it carries with it the regeneration of conscious life. It repels and fascinates and leaves easily project onto others to avoid having to recognize that part of ourselves.

The shadow can manifest as omissions (parapraxes ...) or impulsive acts, committed by mistake. It is above all personal, but its roots also, as shown near universal image of the devil, in the collective unconscious. Every people has its devil, too often projected onto those it fails to incorporate in its worldview.

The shadow is a moral problem to the individual because it may contain as many qualities as defects. Common morality, or that the individual who has bathed in his youth, is often not competent to judge the true nature of the Shadows: constructive or destructive?

More than a conventional morality and social reassured by these concepts decided what is right or wrong, is a philosophy of risk, inner struggle and responsibility of choice it implies that man needs in this adventure. It depends only him that the shadow is his friend or his enemy. It becomes hostile if ignored or treated with incomprehension, it can not transmute that if I accepted the help of the Great Man: the Self. The search for self is the image of the Grail or any initiatory quest for immortality in a spiritual sense.

Engaging in this way is therefore already accept the fact that a crisis is not inevitable but the overwhelming desirability of a new birth through constructive dialogue with shade: there may arise from new behaviors, more open, richer. A thorough knowledge of the myths can be very useful because they tell us, especially the most archaic language still contaminated by a morality too rational and can stimulate positive images of dialogue with the shadows.
